Information applicable everywhere
The information products and source data of an organization are supplied in a variety of ways to employees, suppliers, customers and citizens. Depending on the purpose, data is presented to the end user in maps, graphs, lists or in file formats such as GML or Excel. Via services, the data is available on a mobile phone, tablet, desktop or laptop of the end user. The same information products and source data can be supplied with GeolinQ in various formats, file formats, coordinate systems and applications.
Distribution of information products and source data
The distribution of information products and source data is related to the application of the end user. For a work process, an employee can, for example, use a specialist application or downloaded files with source data to perform their own GIS analysis.
Organizations have GIS viewers and their own applications in which the information products and source data are made accessible to the end user. Most GIS viewers and GIS applications use OGC services with which map layers can be added and feature data can be requested. Specific links between applications are often made with REST services, using various formats such as JSON, GML and XML.
GeolinQ offers both configurable OGC services and REST services to interface with almost any imaginable GIS viewer or application. GeolinQ has application screens and an application services to configure custom GIS applications or GIS viewers. With screens for various map presentations, texts, images, graphs, lists and forms, information products and source data can be made available to the end user.
Access to information products and source data
Source data and information products must be protected from unauthorized use. Authorized users, on the other hand, should preferably have easy access to source data and information products with a central user account. Organizations are often required to record which users have consulted sensitive information and which changes have been made to the data by users.
In GeolinQ, all information products and source data are made accessible via permissions. To open up public data, an authorization is expressly required to prevent data leaks. For all services in GeolinQ the events can be registered so that users who have changed or accessed data are logged. GeolinQ can easily be linked via OpenID with the central user management of the organization so that employees, suppliers and customers can log in with Single Sign On (SSO).
Publishing maps
Geographic source data and information products are usually presented as maps. Maps consist of map layers that contain satellite photos, measurements, buildings, etc. The layout of the GIS data is of great importance for the visualization in a map layer. The OGC Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) is used by default for the layout of GIS data with styles and color scales. The layout of map layers is therefore interchangeable.
In GeolinQ, the layout for map layers is linked to the data structure of a dataset and can be applied to layers in map screens as well as layers in a WMS. The layout is centrally managed in GeolinQ and adjustments are immediately implemented on all relevant map layers. GeolinQ naturally supports the SLD standard for the layout of map layers so that styles and color scales can be easily exchanged.
Publishing reports
Reports and dashboards are important sources of information for making decisions. The presentation of an information product as a report or dashboard is important for the interpretation of the information. The presentation of the number of excavations in a heat map or frequency map gives an indication of the risks of excavation damage in an area. By clicking on the map, all concrete KLIC reports become visible in a list. By clicking on a KLIC message in the list, all details of the excavation work will be visible.
In GeolinQ, information products and source data can be displayed in application screens such as maps, graphs, lists and forms. The application logic is configured by interlinking the application screens. This makes it easy to configure interactive reports and dashboards. The reports are published in an application service that can be displayed via a web browser on any PC, laptop or tablet.
Download of source data and information products
The demanding user does not need standard information products but the source data to perform analyzes himself. Often there is a need for just one excerpt of the dataset in a specific file format and coordinate system. To select the source data for a download, the datasets must be searchable and quickly visualized.
In GeolinQ, datasets can be searched and visualized on any PC, laptop or tablet. A wizard can be used to configure an export process for a file format that can filter the exported data with a crop or condition. In the export process, data can be exported in any desired EPSG coordinate system.
